Joe Yuen

Joe Yuen is an active figure in the yachting industry, with over 20 years of experience in many senior roles and international strategic partnerships. Joe currently serves as the Director of Lodestone Yachts and the Committee Member of Asia Pacific Superyacht Association in the Asia-Pacific region.

Joe began his career in Hong Kong’s yachting sector where he was involved in new build projects in China and later founded Lodestone Yachts in 2009. Lodestone offers yacht management and superyacht agency services in the region. His expertise led to a strategic partnership with one of the leading UK superyacht companies, where he served as Head of Yacht Management Asia and then Chief Representative for Hong Kong and Macau, further cementing his influence in the superyacht sector.

With deep industry connections and an extensive network, Joe brings strong leadership, market knowledge, and a commitment to high service standards. His work with Lodestone Yachts and Vanguard Oceanic reflects his dedication to providing top-tier yacht management solutions, ensuring that clients receive expert guidance and seamless service in one of the world's most dynamic yachting hubs.

Hugh Roberts

Hugh Roberts is an experienced marine engineer with over 23 years at sea, including 14 years as Chief Engineer on luxury yachts up to 90 metres. With a background in marine systems, engineering management, and regulatory compliance, he has worked extensively in both the yachting and commercial maritime sectors.

A former Royal Navy marine engineer, Hugh holds an MSc in Engineering & Management and a Foundation Degree in Marine Systems. His career has taken him across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, giving him a global perspective on yacht operations, maintenance, and technical support.

As Founder & Director of Vanguard Oceanic, Hugh brings expertise in technical management, technical consultancy, and marine sustainability initiatives, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of engineering excellence and operational efficiency. His hands-on approach and deep industry knowledge make him a trusted leader in marine service and management.

Vanguard Oceanic Ltd is made up of a small team of industry professionals, encompassing a mix of several decades of yacht management, seagoing and shipyard experience and most importantly likeminded individuals with a focus on utilising their skills and experience to provide honest work and results for our clients.

Carl Albarran brings a strong technical and engineering background to Vanguard Oceanic, with expertise in mechanical systems, engine maintenance, and CAD-based design work. Most recently, he worked at MAN Energy Solutions, focusing on maintenance, repair, and overhaul of large two-stroke engines, while also managing workshop operations.

In addition to his hands-on technical work, Carl has a strong background in CAD/CAM design and CNC machining, having worked on high-accuracy components for aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. His ability to diagnose, design, and implement solutions across various engineering fields makes him a valuable asset in the maritime sector.

Carl has also worked in after-sales support for a marine company in Asia, handling warranty repairs, troubleshooting complex systems, and ensuring high service standards. His expertise in hydraulics, generators, and stabilizers, combined with his structured approach to engineering, aligns with Vanguard Oceanic’s commitment to precision and reliability in marine services.
